Hurricane Sandy has hit us hard and I hope that all is well with you all and your families. Comic Con was a few weeks ago so Converse has put together another DC comics sneaker Superman & Wonder Woman.

Jordan 9's in the 9th annual Doernbecher Sneaker Collection

For those of you that may not be familiar with Doernbecher, for the past nine years Nike has collaborated with Oregon Health & Science University Doernbecher Children's Hospital which allows patients whom have battled serious illness, a chance to design and create a shoe that is unique amongst themselves.

These patients decide on the colors, materials and details to reflect their own stories and personalities. This years designers are Finnagan Mooney, Chad Berg, Grant Olsen, Kylie Bell, Autumn Boynton & Oswaldo Jimenez. All proceeds go to OHSU Doernbecher.

Doernbecher Dunk Hi SB: 10 yr old Finnagan Mooney was born with Hypoplastic left heart syndrome. The Thump Thump" on the shoe symbolizes his unstoppable heart.

Air Force 1 DB: Chad Berg a 15 yr old turned over in his kayek and spent 90 minutes in icy water. When rescued he was in cardiac arrest with no pulse. After nearly 3 hours of CPR he was transferred to OHSU where he was put on a machine that could do the work for his heart and lungs while he recovered.

Nike Free Run+ 2DB: 11 year old Grant Olsen loves to play the guitar and his favorite animal is lizards as pictured on the tongue. AT the age of six his parents found a lump in hi neck that turned out to be acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Doing much better now, the straight A student has engraved on his design "Do not fear or be dismayed"

Nike Free Run+ 2BD women: 16 yr old Kylie Bell is recovering from a brain tumor, and she has a love for dancing and performing. The bird logo on the tongue represents freedom and the shoe strings state this as well as strength.

Air Max 90 DB: Autumn Boynton a 10 year was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2005 with bi-lateral Wilms' tumors in her kidneys and abdomen. Both of her kidneys had to be removed and after 3 1/2 years of dialysis, her father was able to give her a kidney 4 years to the date that she was first diagnosed.

Jordan 9 Retro DB: Oswaldo Jimenez 11, suffered a series of fainting spells, severe pulmonary hypertension. Given the nickname "Pollito" which means little chicken is etched on the tongue and the lasered feathers are engraved into the shoe.
